Bella Morte

On December 19, 2018, Andy Deane, the lead singer of the synthwave band The Rain Within and the gothic rock bands Bella Morte and Brighter Fires, was accused of being a predatory abuser.

After observing his behavior over several years, former Bella Morte members Gopal Metro and Micah Consylman issued public statements on Facebook holding Deane accountable. Subsequently, multiple victims and firsthand witnesses came forward to substantiate Metro and Consylman’s claims. [1] [2]

Since 1991, Deane has targeted and harmed at least 50 women. In December 2018, 15 women came forward and gave testimonies on Facebook about how he had harmed them, often citing gaslighting tactics that left them emotionally damaged and even suicidal.

Cheating

Andy cheated on his live-in girlfriend, assuring the other girl that they were actively breaking up. He repeated this claim when she surprised him at a show in Virginia. However, two months later, he confessed he still loved his girlfriend. The woman later reached out to Andy’s ex-girlfriend from 1997 to apologize for her involvement. The ex replied that she didn't even know who the woman was, noting that during her own three years with Andy, he had cheated constantly with multiple women.[3]

Andy also manipulated another woman, leading her to believe they had a real chance at intimacy. However, whenever they spent time together, there was always another random hookup or a long-term girlfriend present whom Andy had hidden from her.[4]

Sexual, Financial and Emotional Abuse

A total of 15 victims and over 40 witnesses have come forward to expose Deane’s abusive behavior. The allegations against him include systemic lying and emotional abuse, as well as a reckless disregard for the financial, mental, and sexual health of those around him.[5][7]

On top of the social manipulation and emotional abuse, Deane currently has a legal injunction against him for a sum of $10,000 that he stole from one of his ex-girlfriends. She was 21 and he was 36.

He also currently owes over $5000 in rent and utilities to another one of his ex partners, after convincing her to pay for all rent and utilities for two years because he was “working on his music career” and didn’t feel like he should have to contribute. She was 19 and he was 38.

Underage Girls

A stash of over 300 cataloged photos of women was discovered, ranging from images taken from social media to explicit photos taken during sex without consent, including individuals known to be underage. When confronted, he simply responded, “You can't tell anyone.”
